Arthur is a Canadian/American animated educational television series for children, created by Czech-Canadian animator and writer Arthur Lipsett. The show is set in the fictional American city of Elwood City and revolves around the lives of eight-year-old Arthur Read, an anthropomorphic aardvark, his friends and family, and their daily interactions with each other. Arthur Cartoon has been running since 1996 and is currently the longest-running children’s cartoon on PBS. In 2002, it was adapted into a live-action/animated film, Arthur and the Invisibles. Arthur has also been adapted into a stage show, Arthur Live!, which toured the United Kingdom in 2009. The Arthur franchise also includes two spin-off series: Postcards from Buster and Arthur Too.
