Early sketches for the Sailor Scouts, not just Sailor Moon, revealed some very significant variances in the final appearances of all the members. Usagi’s soft pink hair had to be the most obvious. She was originally intended to be blonde in her human form (Usagi) and silver-haired in her magical girl form, but that concept was scrapped (Sailor Moon). Both of the earlier concepts were ultimately abandoned, and Sailor Moon was created as a simple blonde. Sailor Moon stood out more among the other members of the group, according to Naoko Takeuchi, after going from being mostly blonde.
