The opening theme for Spider-Man: The Animated Series was a rocking reworking of the 1967 music that is so well associated with the Marvel character. However, some fans may not be aware that the lead guitarist for Aerosmith Joe Perry was responsible for this innovative interpretation of the song.
In addition to playing guitar on the song, Perry also performed the well-known lyrics—including the phrase “Spider-Man, Spider-Man, radioactive Spider-Man”—through a vocoder. The primary guitar riff of the theme song also features a sample from the 1:03 title tune’s original theme.
