Did you know that the original cast had a lot more foreign actors?
Contrary to what the Michael Bay Transformers films would have you believe, the original Transformers were a more diverse group. Bumblebee was a Volkswagen Beetle before becoming a Chevrolet Camaro, while Jazz was a Martini Porsche 935 before becoming a Pontiac Solstice.
The Bay approached American automakers and formed a cooperation with them in order to save money, which led to the Americanization of the Transformers in the movies. In later films, the cast would grow to include more foreign automakers as Audi, Ferrari, and Mercedes jumped on the Transformers bandwagon to get their vehicles featured in the movies.
