We are all aware that Hiromu Arakawa, a female mangaka, is the mind behind the Fullmetal Alchemist world. Hiromi Arakawa is the mangaka’s true name; Hiromu is only a pen name. In the past, female mangakas were well-known for their work on Shoujo Mangas, which are aimed at teenage girls, as opposed to Shonen Manga, which is written by male mangakas and is aimed at boys. Arakawa defied convention by producing one of the best Shonen series rather than a Shoujo manga. However, she was worried that because she is a girl, people might not read her story. Hiromi decided to use the masculine variant of her given name, Hiromu, as her pen name. JK Rowling mimicked the well-known author by substituting her initials for her full name.
