Girafarig is a dual-type Normal/Psychic Pokémon introduced in Generation II. Girafarig is a slender, bipedal Giraffe Pokémon. Girafarig’s most notable feature is its extremely long neck. Girafarig has a brown coat with Giraffe-like spots and a yellow underbelly. Its tail is prehensile and tipped with a black and white bulb that is actually its Girafarig’s brain. If its tail is severed, Girafarig will be unable to use Psychic-type moves.

Girafarig’s horn is also black and white, and it has red eyes. Girafarig is very rare in the wild and is said to live in dense forests. Girafarig is the only known Pokémon that can learn the move Double Edge. Girafarig’s name is a corruption of the word giraffe and farcical, which means “absurd”. Giraffes and okapis are the only known living members of the family Giraffidae. Giraffes are notable for their extremely long necks, which they use to reach leaves high in trees.

Girafarig is based on giraffes and fear-inducing animals such as the okapi and the fig Newton. Girafarig’s name comes from giraffe and farcir, French for stuffing. Girafarig’s number in the National Pokédex (#203) and its species name (Long Neck Pokémon) both reference its neck, which is almost half the length of its body.
