Here are some fun facts about Persian that Trainers may not know!

Persian is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It evolves from Meowth starting at level 28. Persian is notable for its distinctly generated face, which has large, round eyes with white irises, black pupils, and no visible sclera.

Its long, thin mustache extends just past its round head and drapes down the sides of its face. Persian’s body is covered in mostly white fur with some black blotches around its belly and honey-colored Auburn on top of its head.

Persian has five short toes on each foot and three blunt claws. Persian also has slit-like nostrils and a short tail. Persian is based on a Persian cat, particularly the blue Persian breed. Persian’s design was proposed by Atsuko Nishida when Nintendo was developing Pokémon Red and Green.

Most Persian have four claws on each paw instead of five; this is due to both practicality during the game’s development as well as aesthetic preference. The vast majority of Persian appears to be female; however, there are some rare cases of Persian being male instead.

In the anime, Jessie owns a Male Persian that she nicknamed “Meowth”. Meowth first appeared in the episode “Pokémon Emergency!”. Persian is known to walk around on its hind legs more often than other Pokémon.
