Genghis Khan ruled over a large portion of the globe, but legend has it that he abandoned his invasion of India when a unicorn bowed to him. This was interpreted by him as an indication that his father disapproved of what he was doing.
Other accounts of the incident imply that his advisor heard the creature tell them verbally that they should stop the invasion.
Perhaps now, when you think about unicorns, you think of rainbows, joy, and sunshine. However, it wasn’t until early 1970s children’s cartoons that this motif was first used in the mythology of the unicorn.
