Atsushi is a young adult in Bungou Stray Dogs, age 18. But Atsushi was supposed to be a 24-year-old young man in Kafka Asagiri’s original design. In a conversation, Asagiri discussed his early concepts for the story and the protagonist in Bungou Stray Dogs. Atsushi and Dazai would be closer in age, so he abandoned the idea.
