July 4th is the national holiday of America, and it’s a great time for family, friends, food, and patriotism.
Did you know that July 4, 1776, was actually when John Adams declared July 2nd was the day of independence? He thought July 2nd was so important to this new country that it should be celebrated for years to come. July 4th also marks the beginning of one of America’s oldest sports – baseball – which began in 1839 under the leadership of Alexander Cartwright. One last July 4th fun fact – did you know that the first July 4th parade took place in 1777 in Bristol, Rhode Island? It was part of an event now known as Bristolfest and remains popular today.
